Cuan Cancer Social Support and Wellness Group

CUAN is a social support and wellness group for anyone in Cavan and surrounding environs who has experienced a cancer diagnosis, and their families. The focus is on wellbeing, emotional support and information. This year CUAN is planning to expand services for families through the CLIMB programme designed especially for children who have been affected by cancer.
Speaking about the win, Rosemary Jozi said, “We’re a small group of people trying to offer support to people who have received terrible news.  We know that often self-help books or reading about the experiences of others in a similar situation can be hugely inspiring.  A prize like this will make a great difference to f those who use the group’s services; particularly given our plans to extend our services to children who may have a parent or close family member who has been affected by cancer”.

Speaking about Donate a Library and in recognition of the work of the CUAN, Claire Smith from Bord Gáis Energy said, “Unfortunately cancer is a disease that affects so many people throughout the country. The fantastic support that CUAN offers families is meaningful and impactful and we saw from their nomination the difference they make in people’s lives. We’re delighted to be able to help in some small way with this library donation and hope it helps the team with their work”.
